Annual Short Course

The 38th Annual Short Course will be divided into 4 parts. The first 3 parts will be presented in person and virtually. The last part will be a hands-on experience at the club’s working apiary located on the HACC campus in Harrisburg.

This Short Course, presented by qualified and experienced instructors, will assist new beekeepers in getting started, as well as provide continuing educational information to current beekeepers.

CLASSES

Part 1: Wednesday, February 4, 2026 - Should I have Bees, Bee Equipment, Hive Location

Part 2: Wednesday, February 11, 2026 - Getting your bees, Bee Biology, Mites/Diseases and Treatments

Part 3: Wednesday, 18, 2026 - Opening Hives and Reading Comb, Seasonal Management, Harvesting and Overwintering

Part 4: Saturday, May 2, 2026 - Hiving a Pkg. of Bees, How to Open & Inspect Hives Participants are encouraged to bring a bee veil and suit, if possible.

In Person & Virtual Participation: The classroom portion of the course will be held in Rm. 214 in the Whitaker Bldg. on the Harrisburg HACC campus. When established, a link to join the virtual Parts 1, 2, & 3 will be emailed to all paid participants.

Cost: Included with your payment of $50, is a year membership to Capital Area Beekeepers’ Assoc. (CABA) and to the Pennsylvania State Beekeeper Assoc. (PSBA), a value of $30.
